I've learned that the concepts themselves of a rail gun has many, many more uses than besides just that of military gain. Though of course its initial use is for defensive and protective means however its unique electromagnetic design can be implemented on things outside of any military oversight. Where I learned this was through a military information website, and though its trustworthiness for this may be yet to proven, I've found that many of its facts were backed by other sites so I'm certain it itself is also accurate, at least to some degree.
